As Futurists, by nature, are curious about anything and everything, here are a few of my favorite resources for learning and understanding of the human condition in all forms.

Books
The Screwtape Letters
One of my favorite books by C. S. Lewis, it touches on theological issues and morality.
The Angel of Darkness
Author Caleb Carr’s sequel to The Alienist, this looks at the attitudes of women back in the early 20th century – with many of these attitudes still prevalent today.
1984
One of the most oft-cited books, if you’ve only referenced it and not read it, now is the time. Many recent references are very superficial compared to the book’s actual content.
Movies/Television
The Simpsons
Disregarding the debate on the quality of later seasons, this is a quintessential satirical sitcom.
Futurama
Another Matt Groening show, I consider this show to be a series of scenarios about several key issues, like “do robots have feelings?”
Better Off Ted
With the changes occurring in the world regarding business, this show is a must – at least, to hope that certain companies don’t start trying to freeze employees and weaponize pumpkins.
DuckTales (2017 Reboot)
Hear me out – this show has a great understanding of the foibles of automation and robotics.
Online Resources
Reddit
While seen as somewhat of a cesspool, it can provide an insight to what society thinks of certain innovations and changes.
Feedly
A news aggregator that allows you to separate news sources into categories of interest. Instead of scouring the net for cybersecurity information, it can be consolidated into one thread.
The Onion
It’s amazing how the line between satire and news is blurred these days. The Onion is also a good barometer for our own biases – what causes you to have a visceral reaction?
